The Code Age

Overview

In 2011, Marc Andreessen famously stated that “Software is eating the world”. Today, we're on the cusp of a new era: "The Code Age", where code - software and artificial intelligence - will create new opportunities, transform entire industries and has the potential to reshape the fabric of society itself.

Software and AI isn’t new - the 1950s saw the early foundational work, but in the connected world we are now living in, it is set to play a much more prominent role.

What is The Code Age?

It is a state where anything that can be generated by code, or performed by code, will be. Over the coming years, software and AI will be capable of doing just about anything that people can do.

From driving cars to diagnosing diseases, code will be able to perform tasks faster, more accurately and more efficiently than people ever could. The implications of this shift are profound and far-reaching.

While we are still in the early adoption phase today, what we are seeing will likely be mainstream in the not too distant future.

In Summary

  • Code first: everything that can be generated by code or done by code will be

  • Increased speed: the rate of expansion and adoption will continue to grow

  • New possibilities: as we discover the potential, it will unlock new opportunities

The Code Age is here, and it will transform our world in ways that we can only begin to imagine. We'll need to be creative, adaptable and visionary to thrive.
